Chocolate cake :D
Well firstly, my plan was a flop last night. I ended up sleeping at 2 am and hadn't quite finished both assignments. For some odd reasons, I work best under pressure during the lecture I have to hand in the assignment. I managed to sort of complete both thankfully.
And so I didn't blog about that chocolate cake I had yesterday and today. My mom's friend brought it over when she came to visit us on her day off. Everything was made of chocolate! It was amazingly delicious... I used to know how to describe food thanks to a humanities class I took in college named: The Wisdom of Cuisine.
Let me attempt to do so...
Well starting from the top, the first part I saw after I had cut off the ribbons of the box and opened the lid. The first thing that had popped into my head was: "soooo muchhhh chocolaatteee". And Then I drooled over it noticing the oval shaped chocolate decor on which was inscribed: "Congratulations" placed neatly in the middle of the round cake. How sweet, I thought. My mom's friend said from afar: " Although, the shop offered other varieties, I bought this one because I know girls like chocolate. Moreover, the chocolate icing outlined top of this magnificent piece of art was covered with chocolate flakes :-) I opened the box from the sides and noticed that it was covered entirely with... chocolate icing of course! It was iced upon vertically using a star icing cone as for the outline on the top. I brought over a knife, almost ran mind you (dangerous!) to cut pieces of the cake for everyone. As the knife slid down to the bottom of the carton support at the bottom, I found out it was indeed a sponge cake. It's lightness was troublesome for the task at hand. I struggled as I juggled the cake between a cake spatula and the knife. It was then that I observed the interior of the cake! It just kept getting better and better as more chocolate was discovered! The layered cake was separated by chocolate icing yet again!
Just between you and me, I took the biggest portion :P The cake was just as wonderful as its appearance (if that was convincing...). Again, it was so thin that I devoured it rapidly without acknowledging it. That is until it had vanished and a feeling of bloatedness took over my short moment of triumph...

slowbie :P
I have a midterm coming up this week and I've made a complete schedule to follow last week for studying time. Of course, my plans never turn out as expected as I am perfectionist. I have two assignments due tomorrow and have almost completed one during my 4 days weekend. I also worked on an online assignment I thought was due on wednesday... turns out the teacher changed the due date to next week. Of course it did help to complete it as the midterm is on the very same subject.
I should probably start working on the second assignment instead of blogging right now. I plan to finish it as quickly as possible and then start studying for the midterm. However, knowing me, I will probably flop that plan too... we'll see how it goes :)
I'll blog on a chocolate cake I had today later...maybe....

Oranges and French
I love oranges :-) A few days ago, I was eating some while studying and had left the peels on my desk. When my mother came in and noticed the peels, she told me to throw them in the kitchen's garbage because bibittes will appear. My mom uses the french word for bug, bibitte, although she doesn't speak the language. However, she often surprises us when she understands what is being said among the francophone at home. I used to speak in french when I didn't want her to understand something she might not be pleased with.. but have since then matured enough to understand that it ain't polite >< We all have our moments when we were young right? Another reason behind such childish behavior is that my siblings and I were much more comfortable speaking in french up to the end of high school, except for the youngest who is completing her last year at the moment. The reason being that we have all attended french education institutions up to that level. Upon graduation, we all switched to english education institutions (College and University). Although my brother is now enrolled in a french university, he much prefers to converse in english. Thankfully, it has allowed him to improve his french from which he was drifting apart. However, my second oldest sister sticked to french all the way threw the 3 years she spent in an english college... She doesn't get to practice it as much anymore nowadays as she lives in England now with no french speaking people around her! She manages quite well I think :) There is always a reason behind everything. She refused to speak english unless she had to her, but now she is forced to all the time. Perhaps her long faithfulness to french while in Quebec will enable her to keep the language stored up for future use. And she does practice with us whenever she calls.
As for me, I have always had difficulty conversing in only one language. I tended to hang out with bilinguals and switched languages back and forth (including when talking to siblings). However, I did mostly speak in french. It was quite a challenge to adapt to speaking in english only. And I still have difficulty, especially under stress... this weird accent comes out and I stubble upon pronunciation of certain words.
A very clear example of what I mean is that certain words in english have the exact translation in french, but only in written. The pronunciation is quite different sometimes.
My english does look impeccable in writing as I've been told by some english teachers and they seem surprised when I speak the language. Writing is easy because the thoughts run over in my mind slowly and I can think of the right fashion in which to present it. Whereas talking is spontaneous and I sometimes need a moment to get my head together...
I don't avoid speaking it though, practicing is key right? Yeah I get laughed at sometimes, but I learn from my mistakes and never repeat them :-) or at least try not too :P
Also, I drifted away from the subject at hand again: "oranges", my bad. What I wanted to say is having noticed that I was consuming a lot of oranges while studying, my mom bought a whole box of oranges when she went to do the groceries today. How sweet right? Just for me, she said :) I'm not the only one enjoying them though haha. They are quite juicy and sweet, perfect for perking myself up while completing a difficult math problem.
Sometimes writing thoughts down helps you realize things you wouldn't realize had you thought about them only. That probably made sense to me only haha.
I like this blogging habit I'm developing, an adventure to my coming of age. How lightening, I think while reaching over to the orange on my desk that I've been eying during this entire post :-)

Wifi cellphone!
On the 3rd of january, and I remember the date because it was the day before I started University, I had a little accident with my cellphone... haha so I had to get myself a new one. Off I went to rogers to get a replacement. I had to of course pay for it unless I wanted to renew my contract, which I was not up to doing at all! And thus I discovered that any prepaid cellphone can be used with a plan!!! It does have to be from the same provider though, i think... All you have to do is insert your current sim card, and you are set to go :)
So... I settled for an Lg-neon which was pretty neat because of the full keypad sliding off on one side. It was definitely much easier to text this way unlike the previous Lg-tu515. But it was kind of slow and required some getting used to for a fob like me :P And as I was looking at other models of cellphone at the store, I asked the employee whether he had any with wifi, to which he pointed out certain models which were too highly priced in my opinion. However, later that week I went over to bestbuy to get some earphones and saw the add on the nokia c3-00 in their flyer. I think the boxing sale was still on and so the cellphone was on sale ^^ And guess what? haha. It has Wifi! It also has a qwerty keyboard and a better quality camera than the last cellphone. And it has Wifi! hehe... Remember how I said I got distracted in class a lot? well, guess how :P
I was really psyched about it the first week I got it, but later asked myself what was the point of navigating the web on a 2.4inch screen when i had 15.4inch laptop (yes i googled both to be sure :P). But my little sister has been using it much more since then as her desktop is in the cold basement. Navigating the web on it definitely kills the battery much faster, but that is expected from any device right?
